WHY A BLOG?
- I hope this blog will encourage ongoing communication and helpful conversations among the wrestlers, coaches, and parents who are associated with the Haywood County Wrestling Club. Whereas our HCWC Website will be pretty static, with only occasional updates, this blog will allow anyone to ask questions, make comments & suggestions, and find out constantly about changes and “breaking news.”
- I hope this blog will also provide a forum for discussing important issues related to wrestling, like weight loss, nutrition, weight training, etc.
- Finally, I hope the coaches and others will use this blog to say something about what wrestling has meant to them over the years and why they still want to be a part of the sport . . . and maybe to share a good story or two about their experiences. Check out the Personal page linked to this page to see what any of the coaches have to say.
John (Coach) -
It’s great to hear that you are involved again in the sport (not sure you really actually left it!). We (the McClures) will be back in WNC for a week or so in July and I’d love to bring the boys in for a workout! I know you’ve been my mentor for longer than either of us want to remember and I’d love for the kids to experience some of your coaching. I encourage you to check out our club page (www.eiermanwrestling.com) and Josh’s (10u/65) recent interview on http://www.flowrestling.com (click on the 2009 Eierman Elite link on the left hand side of the homepage). Drop me an email when you get a chance – wish you and your kids the best on the mats!
Jeff (“Moosehead”)
To the one and only “Moosehead”:
I got your voice mail message. My e-mail address is
We’ve had a pretty good start up with the club this year. We are closing down this week after a final tournament in Cherokee, but we will have a camp on June 17-20. Jerry Winterton, the Cary coach and former national high school coach of the year, will be here 3 evenings. It would be great if your boys could get out here for that, but I know summer schedules are summer schedules.
Send me an e-mail and we can talk in more detail. I’m looking forward to checking out your club’s page, as well as Josh’s interview.
Thanks for communicating – and thanks to your mom for keeping you informed.
